Our program for schools, “Equity 101”, provides equity, diversity and culturally responsive training for schools beginning their initial journey.
Equity 101 describes the initial process of equity, diversity and culturally responsive training for schools and organizations beginning their initial journey. Although the visual is anchored in best practices, the work becomes individualized when Diversity & Equity Consultants works closely with your school or organization in building a trajectory that meets your needs:

The Equity 101 Trajectory is made up of 14 components:
- Leadership Commitment: The commitment of school leaders is communicated to educators and staff via a structured statement, plan, or brief prior to beginning the process
- The “Why”: Communicating the process visually and in writing is an important component prior to beginning equity work. The school or agency’s commitment and the why of the work is clearly communicated
- Diversity Definitions: This area is listed as a specific component; however, it is generally embedded in initial workshops to ground the work
- The Inside Out View: This area of work focuses on foundational areas that individuals must address as they look at anti-racism and anti-biased spaces. This workshop may include multiple assessments looking inward at self, social group membership, and how one’s identity is formed
- Organizational Assessment: Here we are evaluating cultural competence and equity from an organizational space via a general assessment
- Data Mining: This focus evaluates disproportionality in academics, discipline, programming, polices/procedures and other related areas
- Social Construct of Race: This area is an exploration of how race is “made up” and utilized in multiple ways to control, shift power, and maintain the status quo in schools and organizations and systems
- Bias/Microaggressions: Provides an overview and practice of how bias and microaggressions are operationalized in schools and organizations
- Culturally Responsive Instruction: The hallmarks of Culturally Responsive Teaching and Engagement coupled with authentic Parent & Significant Other Engagement are provided along with classroom strategies and behaviors of Culturally Responsive Teachers
- Systemic Inequities: Provides and overview of how larger systems impact education and organizations
- Fostering Inclusivity: Evaluates systems for inclusive behaviors, policies/procedures and educator consciousness
- Equity Messaging: Image enhancement, inclusivity in all spaces, and technological innovations in embedded equity and language evaluation
- Equity Planning: Moving toward next steps in multiple areas identified as areas of change and evaluating options and recommendations
- Sustaining Commitment: Building a viable equity trajectory for the future
